The story behind
The Founders
Janis Karasevskis and Renate Meimere founded Another Kind in 2025 in their small Copenhagen apartment.
Janis brings more than twenty years of experience in craftsmanship, architecture, and furniture making. Renate comes from a background in design and branding.
Together, they combine making and design to create furniture that adapts to modern living.
How It Started
After the pandemic, Renate and Janis transformed their guest room into a home office. Suddenly the space became much more functional.
It turned out they were not the only ones facing this challenge. Many people were struggling with rooms that needed to serve several purposes at once.
Friends and visitors became curious about their solution, and the idea behind Another Kind slowly began to take shape.
Philosophy
Our goal is to make every room as functional as possible without compromising on aesthetics and quality.
This balance between functionality, design, and craftsmanship is at the core of every Another Kind solution.
Where we are going
Another Kind is built for the long run.
We are not here to follow fast trends or release endless collections. We want to grow slowly, thoughtfully, and together with the people who live with our furniture.
Our goal is to keep designing pieces that adapt as life changes. Furniture that moves with you through different homes, different phases, and different needs.
We want to build a community around thoughtful living, honest design, and well made furniture. A place where feedback matters, ideas are shared, and people feel part of the process.
