Homes of Another Kind #01
"We wanted one room to work for both our kids and all the sleepovers."
Kids change your life. Everything becomes much more dynamic, and we had a feeling that the AK Sleeper Sofa could become a great part of it.
Now, after living with it for a while, I can say it has become a huge part of our lives. From bedtime stories with my kids and their friends to all the practical things, like having storage for toys and keeping the room tidy… well, when that’s possible, haha.
— UndineWe didn’t want a room that was only used a few times a year, we wanted the space to feel alive and useful every day.
What problem were you trying to solve?
We needed flexibility.
Most of the time, the room is part of our everyday family life. The kids play there, relax there, and we use the space constantly.
But we already knew there would also be a lot of visitors (grandparents, our friends, and now also all the little friends) so having a proper sleeping option mattered a lot to us. We needed something that could host everyone without turning the whole room into a permanent guest room all year long.
What made you choose the AK Sleeper Sofa?
We looked at other options but honestly, most sofa beds felt like a compromise. Either they looked nice but were uncomfortable, or they were practical but not something we actually wanted in our home aesthetically.
We also wanted something easy to transform. With kids and everyday life, you really notice when something feels complicated to use.
The design first caught my attention. It did not feel like a typical sofa bed. It felt calmer and more thought through.
But what really convinced us was how naturally it transformed and how comfortable it felt both as a sofa and as a bed.
How do you use the room today?
Most days, it is the kids’ room.
They sit there with books, play, relax, sometimes jump around a little too much, haha.
But something else happened after we got it that I did not really expect.
We started reading bedtime stories there together, and very often we all just fall asleep there as a family.
That became one of my favorite parts of the room.
It no longer feels only practical. It feels cozy in a completely different way.
When guests come, we can also quickly transform the space into a proper guest room without needing to move furniture around or completely reorganize the room.
That flexibility changed a lot for us.
— UndineI really like that it does not scream “multifunctional furniture.” It just feels like a beautiful piece in the room.
